"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."  John 3:16-17

Lord’s Supper - If we have not been Raptured and the Lord permits us

some_text

Sundays 9:30 AM—10:30 AM

What is this meeting? If you enter the hall during this meeting you will see us gathered around a table upon which is a loaf of bread and a cup of wine. You will also quickly realize that there is no clergyman, elder or other person in charge. If you were to ask someone what the program is, the reply would be there is none. We gather to fellowship with the Lord Jesus and remembering Him in His death. This was His request on the night of His betrayal, "this do in remembrance of me". (Luke 22. 14-20, I Corinthians 11. 23-29)

You may also wonder why the bread and wine are not passed to you. This is because the Bible teaches the following:

* All believing persons in Jesus Christ, who believe He died and rose from the dead and have confessed their personal sin to God, have fellowship at the Lord's Table (the one Body of Christ) and the privilege to participate in the Lord's Supper.

(Romans 2:23, 1 Peter 1:23, I Corinthians 10 [Lord’s Table], I Corinthians 11 [Lord’s Supper], Ephesians 4:4)

* There is one baptism by the Holy Spirit.

(Ephesians 4:5)

* The breaking of the bread is not an isolated act. It involves fellowship with others.

( I Corinthians 10.16)

* In the local assembly the brothers and sisters are responsible to care for each other in their walk with the Lord.

(I Corinthians 12.25, Galatians 6.1, II Corinthians 2:7-8)

* A believers privilege to participate may be forfeited because of personally dishonoring the word of God or having association with others who dishonor the word of God.

(I Corinthians 5.6, I Corinthians 5.11-13, I Timothy 5.22)

* It is the assembly which receives or excommunicates believer's to the Lord's Supper.

(Matthew 18. 15-20, II Corinthians 3.1)

* Excommunication from the Lord's Table is impossible because believer's cannot lose their salvation in Jesus Christ.

(Romans 8:31-39)

* In the local assembly the brothers and sisters are responsible for restoring someone's privilege to the Lord's Supper and with the Saints.

(I Thessalonians 5.14, I Corinthians 5.11)

* Assemblies of believers with these common beliefs are interdependent with one another so it is common practice to have letters of commendation written by a local assembly so the assembly being visited can be introduced formally to the visitors.

(Acts 9:27; 18:27 )

* Every believer is a saint, royal priest, and king, therefore all who gather to the name of Jesus Christ (who is the High Priest, who sanctifies every believer at the throne of God), has the privilege at the Lord's Supper to: bless the bread and wine, give out a hymn, spiritual song, read bible passage(s), minister the word of God, offer pastoral care and teach as the Holy Spirit leads.

(I Peter 2:5,9 Revelation 1:5-6. Hebrews 9:24, 13:12-16)

* Woman are honored in the assembly, however, they do not participate in speaking or teaching publicly and they do wear a head covering, because the Holy Spirit lead the Apostle Paul to teach otherwise. All are encourage to dress honorably before the Lord.

(I Corinthians 14:34-35)

* The true teacher and leader of all believers is the Holy Spirit by Jesus Christ and each believer has been given gift(s) to help the Body of Christ. Thus the activities of the breaking of bread, bible studies and ministry meetings are not pre-defined by some administration, but by the liberty to those who are in privilege to participate by the leading of the Holy Spirit.

(I Corinthians 2:12-14, I Corinthians 12)
